Psalm
37:3 (NASB)
Trust in the Lord and do
good;
Dwell in the land and
cultivate faithfulness.
Trust. Trust in the Lord.
AND—do
GOOD.
Ephesians
2:10 (NASB)
For we are His
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which GOD prepared BEFOREHAND
so that we should WALK in them.
(Emphasis
mine)
Proverbs
3:5-6 (NASB)
Trust
in the Lord with all your heart and do NOT lean on your own
understanding.
In all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
(Emphasis
mine)
I do
not always know very much when I am in a new situation. But I know the One who knows all things. What does He ask me to do?
He
asks me to trust Him.
To
trust Him with all of my heart.
To
trust Him and do good.
To
trust Him and do the good that He has already prepared for me to do.
How do
I do good?
I
trust Him.
I
trust Him with my whole heart.
And I do
not lean on my own understanding.
It is
simple.
Is it
easy?
No.
In
fact, it is often most challenging and very difficult.
Why?
Because
I am saved by God’s grace, but a battle still rages for the affections of my
soul.
I must
choose to die to the lusts of my selfish nature daily and choose to live by submitting
to God and His Holy Spirit within me.
Do you
struggle to trust God in your daily life?
Me
too.
But I
want to trust Him. I NEED to trust Him.
And
one thing I know—when I do trust Him is when I know glorious peace inside.
Let me
leave you with two final verses for today:
Psalm
37:39-40 (NASB)
But the salvation of the
righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He
delivers them from the wicked and saves them; because they take refuge in Him.
So what is my cup
of SonShine for today?
To
trust. To trust in the Lord and do good
with the help of His grace.
“Heavenly
Father, Thank You that You are trustworthy.
No one else is perfect but You. I
can trust You. You love me more than
anyone else ever could, and You are good.
You are good and You are God. You
are in control.
“No matter what happens, I
know that nothing can touch me or those I love without going through You first,
and I know that You will use all things to work together for my good, because I
love You and have been called according to Your purpose. You will use these things to make me more
like Jesus.
“I
love You, Lord. Thank You so much for
loving me. Help me to trust You
today. It is hard for me to trust. Help me to trust You with all of my heart—to
throw my full self into trusting You and going where You lead. Help me to trust you with every little
emotion and detail of my life—as well as with every action you lead me to
do.
“I
love You, Lord. Thank You.
“Today,
I choose to trust You. Help me to be
mindful in every situation of how I can do that.
“I
love You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
